In partnership with Sea to Cedar and Nawalakw Healing Society we are delivering two programs during the summer of 2019.

Youth Leadership Paddling Program- YLPP 2019 July 1-13, 2019

The Youth Leadership Paddle Program (YLPP) is a Sea to Cedar program. It is in its third year and has been very well received in the Musgamagw Dzawada̱’enux̱w communities. The participants of YLPP spend two days in Gwayasdams taking a Paddle Canada certified course before undertaking a 7 night expedition from Gwaysdams to Hada (Bond Sound). This program has a strong focus on leadership and team building. A̱ka̱la has partnered with Sea to Cedar to help deliver the cultural and wellness portion of the program.

T̕axila, Creating a Path August 21-28, 2019

T̕axila was a 7-day trail building program thatbrought Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw youth into Hada (Bond Sound) to build a section of trail and immerse in their traditional language and culture. The original ancestor, Tsekame, of the Kwikwsutinuxw, is said to have been born from a cedar tree in Hada. The section of trail the youth built was to a stand of beautiful old growth cedars. This is phase one of this project, with the end goal being to create a trail from Hada to Anchorage.
